More than 300 Russian and foreign scientists will gather at the All-Russian Congress of Orientalists in Ufa

The 10th All-Russian Congress of Orientalists "Russia and the Orient: Interaction of Nations and Peoples" will be held at the Institute of History, Language and Literature, Ufa Scientific Centre, the Russian Academy of Sciences from October 7 to 10.

It will be attended by over three hundred Russian and foreign scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Krasnodar, Abakan, Pyatigorsk and other Russian cities, as well as the orientalists from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.

As the press service of the Ufa administration informs, it is expected to consider at the forum the achievements of Russian oriental studies, the results of scientific heritage study and contribution of domestic orientalists in the development of world science, topical issues of modern oriental and Turkic studies, role of regional centres in development of domestic oriental studies.

Symposiums on the activities of outstanding orientalists will be organized at the event. The All-Russian Congress of Orientalists will be held in Ufa for the second time. In 2006, the Bashkir capital hosted the fifth Congress. Over the years, the congress was held in Elista, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Ulan-Ude, Zvenigorod.

The plenary session will take place in the Great Hall of the Bashkir State Academic Drama Theatre named after M. Gafuri, beginning at 10.00 on October 8. Breakout sessions will be carried out in the conference rooms of Ufa Science Centre RAS (71, October Avenue), the A.-Z. Validi National Library RB (4, Lenin Street).

The congress is supported by the Social Fund for Targeted Programs RB and the Russian Humanitarian Foundation (regional contest "Ural: History, Economy, Culture").
